Letter to Alex: Month 29

Dear Alex,

You turned 29 months a few days ago - about the time Daddy and I came down with the stomach flu. So far you are the only one to escape it! Let's hope it stays that way. However, earlier this month I did take you to the Emergency Room in the middle of the night because you were barely breathing. It turns out you had the croup and it was pretty bad but they gave you some medicine. You were so cute at the hospital - everybody thought so. You just sat there really good for your x-ray and then when they gave you some medicine you were a total spazz. All this at 2am.

You are still obsessed with Cars, Power Rangers and Star Wars. When we walk to pick Jarom up from school, the two of you and one of Jarom's friends always pretend you're fighting each other with light sabers. And you're always making swords and guns out of blocks. And you know the names of all the Power Rangers.

You had a great time in New Mexico visiting Grandma and Grandpa Watts for General Conference. You were really good on the way down and just a little cranky on the way home. You played with your toys and looked at books. You were pretty good during conference too - I printed out some activity packets for you and Jarom to color and also made Magnetic folder games and you had fun with those.

You've also become obsessed with fish. You love to look at them in books or on daddy's phone. Your favorite, for whatever reason, is the brown trout. You can name several of the other fish too. You can't wait until it's warm enough for daddy to take you fishing. You did go once this month - to a little pond - but you didn't catch anything. And you tried fishing at the Sportsman's Expo but you didn't catch anything there either. You've got a little Spongebob fishing pole that you want to catch fish with so bad! At the Sportsman's Expo you got to hold a big fish and get your picture taken. You got to hold a Northern Pike but you kept telling them you wanted to hold the Lake Trout!

You are always saying funny things. You say "naken" for "naked". You are learning to count and hold up the correct number of fingers. You like to sing the songs Jarom learns, like the ABC song, or the Days of the Week song. You are so smart and Jarom teaches you so many things.

You had a great Easter! You loved dying the eggs and going on an Easter egg hunt. You got a golf club with jelly beans in it that you were so excited about. And you love eating all the candy! You got a new Sunday suit that you promptly got melted chocolate all over when you opened an egg and squished the chocolate inside. Sometimes it's a good thing you're so cute!

You are such a funny kid and we love you so much.

Love, Mommy
