Letter to Jarom: Month 64

Dear Jarom,

Happy New Year's Eve! Today you turn 64 months. You, Alex and Megan are all a little sick right now so we had a little New Year's Eve party just as a family tonight and you had so much fun! We had Chinese food for dinner and you and Alex sat at your new Cars table and chairs and watched Gnomeo and Juliet while you ate. Then we turned on some music and danced and ate snacks. We bought little New Year's party hats and noise makers and around 7:30 we did a little countdown to "midnight." You thought it was so fun we ended up doing the countdown twice!

You were so excited for Christmas this month. You did a bunch of Christmas workbook pages at school and made a Christmas ornament before school let out for the winter break. You loved decorating the Christmas tree and decorating Christmas cookies!

We had our ward Christmas party and you had so much fun. You got to wear your Christmas pajamas and listen to the story of the first Christmas. Then you got to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what you wanted for Christmas. You told him you wanted a ghost! But there was a little stuffed ghost and he gave you that along with your candy cane!

We went to Zoolights and had fun looking at all the lights. You liked the small animals building and looking at all the snakes and frogs and things too. That night we all slept under the tree. This was the first year you got to go with us to the Forgotten Carols and the Christmas play at the Desert Star. You were really good and had a great time at both.

On Christmas Eve we went to the VanV's for a little party. We had snacks and exchanged presents. All the cousins reinacted the Christmas story and you were one of the wisemen. You were all so cute!

Christmas Day you got to open your presents at home and you got so many presents! Your new Cars table and chairs, some movies, a bunch of LEGOs, some clothes - all kinds of stuff. Then we went to church and then to Grandma's house for more presents. You got puzzles and games, more LEGOS, clothes, and a giant superheroes magnadoodle. Later that night we went out to the Martin's to spend time with your cousins again. It was quite a busy day but you had so much fun.

You are growing up so fast! Your reading is getting better and you recognize all the numbers to 30. You always have something interesting to tell us that you have learned from school or church or even tv. And you get so excited about EVERYTHING! It is so much fun to be your mom. I can't wait to see what the next year brings.

Love, Mommy

Letter to Alex: Month 25

Dear Alex,

Today you turn 25 months. I don't know what it is about being two but you sure have turned into a mischievous little monkey. You know exactly what you're not supposed to be doing and that's exactly what you do. And you give me such a sweet innocent look which makes it hard to punish you but you sure do try my patience on a regular basis. You pull everything out of drawers and cupboards, you mess with the computer, you make a mess of your room and refuse to clean it, you run off outside and I have to sprint to catch you before you get into trouble. I have a feeling it's going to be quite a year!

You are a total mama's boy and love to sit and cuddle with me. You can be really sweet and super funny. The things that come out of your mouth seriously crack me up! Your answer for just about any question, whether it makes sense or not, is "because" or "don't know." As much of a momma's boy as you are you still love to play tickle monster with daddy.

You are such a big helper. You help me put the laundry from the washer to the dryer, you carry things into the house from the car, you help take the garbage out, and you LOVE to help make dinner. And if Jarom is helping with something you REALLY want to help out!

You had a great time with your grandparents and cousins in New Mexico for Thanksgiving. You LOVED the dog, Arnie. And you loved playing guns with Jarom, Spencer, and Tanner. You were really good for the trip down and back. You love riding in the van because you can see out the windows and you were always pointing things out for us to look at.

We had a great time putting up the Christmas tree and you love looking at all the ornaments. It is so hard for you to keep your mitts off the tree but you're doing a pretty good job. You are so excited for Christmas! You love Santa, at least from a distance. We saw Santa at our ward Christmas party and you were fine until we sat you on his lap. Then you started screaming. Once you got down you were fine again.

You are such a smart and funny little boy. We love having you in our family.

Letter to Megan: Month 4

Dear Megan,

Today you are 4 months old! You are 12 lbs 14 oz and 24 inches long. You are growing so fast. Your eyes are still blue and your hair is starting to come in thicker but you still don't have very much. That's ok, you are still the cutest little girl ever. You are such a content little person, you hardly ever cry. You just lay in your bed and coo or sit in your car seat and do crunches.

You had your first ear infection this month. Even then you weren't too cranky but I could tell you didn't feel good. You did NOT like having your ears cleaned out so the doctor could check them. But you took your medicine and now are doing great.

You love hanging out with your cousin Charlie. At Sunday dinners you two just lay on the couch or the baby mat and talk back and forth to each other. It's so cute.

You went on your first long-distance car trip and celebrated your first Thanksgiving! We went down to New Mexico to see Grandma and Grandpa Watts. You were a rockstar and barely cried the whole way down or back. Then you were spoiled while we were in New Mexico because you were almost always being held. You had a great time.

You are such a sweet baby girl and I love being your Mom.
