Baby Megan

I can't believe it's been three weeks since I had a baby. I feel like everything for the past few weeks has just been a blur. Three kids is definitely harder than two. How do people do this? I hope I get the hang of it soon!

August 9th I went to Salt Lake Regional Medical Center to be induced. It was a week before my due date but my doctor was going out of town and I just wanted to have this baby. I found out a few weeks before that I had gall stones - as if I needed one more reason to dislike pregnancy. So I was done! They started the pitocin around 9am and then it was just a waiting game. Around 1pm or so I got an epidural. They checked me around 3:30 and I was dilated to a 5. Within half an hour I was fully dilated! And the epidural had pretty much stopped working. My back was numb but lower down I could feel every contraction. It's a good thing my doctor only works across the street from the hospital! Matt says I only pushed for about ten minutes and then we had our beautiful baby girl!

Megan Nizhoni Watts was born at 4:30pm. She was 6 lbs 12 oz and 19 inches long. She had black hair and dark dark blue eyes and screamed like a banshee when she came out! I think she looks a lot like her brothers - except for the pink bow in her hair! She had a little bit of jaundice but after testing it wasn't serious enough to worry about.

I survived the delivery and the recovery hasn't been too bad. I can even imagine doing all this one more time... maybe. We'll see how I survive three kids for awhile. Megan is a really good baby. She barely cried at all in the hospital - but now she's very good at letting us know what she wants. She eats like crazy and sleeps for good stretches of time. For the most part I'm not too sleep deprived!

She did get a cold this past week, which is so sad to see a newborn sick, and that's messed up her sleeping a little bit. At her two week appointment she was 7 lbs 5 oz and 19 1/2 inches. She still seems so so tiny - that's still smaller than either brother at birth!

The boys have been really good with her for the most part. Jarom loves to hold her and they both like giving her kisses (hence the cold).

I love dressing her up in all her girly clothes! We've gotten so many cute baby girl gifts, including hair bows which I'm loving. It's going to be interesting being a family of five now.
