Letter to Jarom: Month 28

Dear Jarom,

Happy New Year's Eve! Today you turn 28 months. You have been growing like crazy! Mostly mentally. Your vocabulary gets bigger every day. My favorite is when you drop something and say "oh crap!" You were watching Spiderman one day and he said, "What the hell?" And you said, "Oh uh, hell." It was super funny but I think we better pay attention to what words you are hearing because then you start repeating them! You try climbing up the wall like Spiderman and it's so funny. Also, you've started doing somersaults lately and I think soon we may need to put you in gymnastics!

One of your favorite things to do lately is "go fishing." You and daddy throw a rope over the railings in the loft and somebody puts "fish" on the line and you pull them back up. Sometimes you catch toys or treats but you're always excited no matter what it is!

You had such a fun time at Christmas. You loved to go in and sit by the Christmas tree every night and just watch the lights. Of course, you liked to touch all the ornaments too. You had fun helping to make Christmas cookies, although most of your cookies didn't turn out very well. You would press cut out over cut out so they didn't really look like anything by the time you were done. But you sure loved to eat them when they were done!

All your relatives came to visit for Christmas and you had so much fun playing with everybody. Great-grandma Funk and Great-uncle Jeff hadn't seen you since last Christmas and they loved every minute they got to spend with you. You made quite the haul on Christmas morning. I think you got more presents than the rest of us combined! There was so much wrapping paper around where you were sitting (and you LOVED tearing all the wrapping paper off) that we had to clear a lot of it away to find the other presents buried underneath that still needed to be opened. You got a Handy Manny toolbox that plays songs and you have fun carrying it around and dancing to the music. You tell us you need your coat and your hat so you can go to work.

At the very beginning of the month you ran into the corner of a wall and bumped your head pretty hard. It's still trying to heal. Apparently you were so traumatized by the experience that you are still telling people that you ran into a wall.

We bought you a potty this month too and you seem really excited about it. At least sitting on it, but as soon as we tell you to take your pants off you start freaking out. I can tell this potty training thing is going to take awhile.
You've been staying up so late for the holidays that you've been completely exhausted. The other morning you came into our room pretty early and you just kind of looked at me like you were still asleep. Then I saw you reach for an empty soda can that was sitting by the bed and you just curled up with it on a pillow that was laying on the floor and fell back to sleep!
This has been such a fun year with you and I can't wait to see what the next year will bring.
Love, Mommy
