Letter to Alex: Month 24

Dear Alex,

Happy Birthday! Today you turn 2 years old. I can't believe it's been two years since you were born. You have grown so much. You are now 34 inches and 26 lbs. You talk all the time - sometimes in complete sentences. You love Thomas the Train, Cars and Elmo. You love playing with Jarom and mimicking whatever he says and does. You love playing dress-up with him. You love your little sister, Megan, and just want to give her kisses all the time! And you love playing with all your little friends, and even Jarom's friends.

We had an Elmo birthday party for you this year and you had a great time! We ate pizza and had Elmo cupcakes. You got some fun presents like a school bus full of animals, some Thomas the Train toys, and a Little Peoples racing ramp. You really enjoyed playing with your cousin and friends.

Ever since you were sick last month it's been a challenge keeping you in bed at night. You're finally starting to sleep all night again. You love listening to Harry Potter at bedtime and playing tickle monster with daddy when he gets home from work. You love to help take the garbage out or make dinner. You are such a momma's boy and say "carry us" when you want me to pick you up. I'm not sure who the "us" is, as far as I can tell I'm just carrying you!

You never want to go to nursery but as soon as you're there, and I leave, you are fine. Your nursery teachers think you are adorable! Which is true. You can be quite the mischief maker too. You know when you're doing something you're not supposed to, but you just look so adorable and you know it, that it's hard to be mad. You're getting interested in potty training too. You love to sit on the potty even though you haven't quite figured out how to go potty yet. It's going to be quite the process, I think.

You had a great Halloween. You were so cute in your Elmo costume! You did great going up to peoples' doorsteps and waiting for candy. You didn't really get the concept that you were just there to pick something up, you wanted to go in every door you knocked on! Some people thought you were so cute they would keep you. It was so fun taking you trick-or-treating.

You had fun with all the other Halloween festivities too. Going to Gardner Village to see the Halloween decorations, going the the pumpkin patch, and carving pumpkins with daddy!

We had our first big snow of the year. You and Jarom had a great time playing in the snow and making a snowman with daddy. Your fingers got really cold though and you were glad to come in for some hot chocolate and some warming up.

You are the sweetest little boy and love to just sit with me and look at books sometimes and that is so fun. It's so fun to watch you grow from a baby to a little boy.

Love, Mommy
