Letter to Jarom: Months 52, 53, 54

Dear Jarom,

Today you turn 54 months! I have not updated your posts for 3 months because I've had really bad morning sickness so we'll be doing a recap of the last 3 months!

Month 52 was December and that month was all about Christmas! You loved going to school because you made all kinds of Christmas crafts and lots of ornaments for our tree. The last day of school before Christmas break you had a Christmas program. All the kids wore antlers and sang Christmas songs - which you had practiced and knew pretty well. You also did a little program with the alphabet. Your part was: "M is for mittens, so warm and cozy. N is for necktie, to daddy from Aunt Rosy." You said tozy instead of cozy and it was so cute. And you knew your part and said it better than anybody else!

You loved Christmas. You woke up early and were so excited when you saw two pillow pets sitting under the Christmas tree. You got a ladybug pillow pet because that's what you wanted, and Alex got a bumblebee pillow pet. You also got a walking Iron Man which you were very excited about. Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Funk's to open presents. You got a Jazz hoodie, games, a Star Wars book which you loved, and all kinds of other things. Grandma and Grandpa Watts gave you a remote control car. You really made out with all kinds of fun things!

Month 53 was January. We spent New Year's Eve at the Van Valkenburgh's and you had a great time eating food and staying up later than usual and sleeping in Bailey's room overnight. We told you about the baby and at church your first Sunday in your new class you introduced your family and told everyone you were going to have another brother or sister. We couldn't keep it secret after that! You love your new primary teachers, Sister Webb and Sister Woodland and always take your Book of Mormon to church with you. We've started reading the Book of Mormon with you and having repeat the verses back to us and I think it's helping your pronunciation as well as helping you learn about the scriptures.

Your new catchphrase is: "I can't believe it!" You say it all the time about everything. You are doing really well at knowing the alphabet and starting to recognize the sounds that go with each letter. You'll be reading in no time! And you've started writing your name.

Month 54 was February. You were very excited about Valentine's Day and taking valentines to school. You had to write your name on all of them and you did pretty well. You went with daddy to buy me flowers and chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day and you loved it. You and daddy each got a new golf club for Valentine's Day.

You are usually a big help to me. You are good about cleaning your room and you'll clean Alex's room too without complaint. You like to do any chores we give you and you love to play with Alex. Lately you've started calling me Mother. I'm not sure why, or where you got it from, but it's kind of funny. Sometimes you call dad Father and tell us to call you child. You are very concerned about what we're going to name the baby. First we need to find out what gender it is and then we can decide!

So many more things have happened over the last 3 months but these are things that have stuck with me. I hope to better document the coming months as you continue to grow and learn.

Love, Mommy
