Letter to Alex: Month 2

Dear Alex,

Today you turn 2 months old! You have started growing like crazy. We went to the doctor this morning and you are now 12 lbs 1 oz and 23 1/2 inches long! That's quite the growth spurt. You were so good for the doctor and you barely even cried when it was time for your shots. I always hate that part, I hate to see you hurting, but you took it really well and before too long were back to being your usual smiling self.

You smile a lot now and make lots of cute little baby noises. You are the most chatty right after you eat - cooing and gurgling. It's my favorite part right now. You don't look like a newborn anymore. You're starting to get chubby and you still have so much hair although it's starting to spread out as your head grows. And your neck is really strong. You can hold your head up really well when you're on your tummy and sometimes you even roll onto your back. I think it's just the gravitational pull from your head rolling you over.

This past month we celebrated your first Christmas. You got to meet your Grandma Jean before she passed away on New Year's Day and also your Great-Uncle Jeff. Grandma and Grandpa Watts were here for Christmas too and we got to spend lots of time with family. Everybody wanted to hold you and you were so good. I don't think you cared for all the noise when we opened presents. You got pretty fussy then. But you got lots of things for Christmas. Lots of new clothes and toys. You got a puppy that sings the alphabet song that I'm sure you'll love when you're a little bit older.

We blessed you in church the Sunday after Christmas. We had everyone over for breakfast before church and it was nice to see so many friends and family come to support us. The spirit was so strong while daddy was blessing you and I was sad I hadn't remembered to bring paper to write your blessing down. But a sister in our ward typed it all up for us so we can remember it and that was so thoughtful of her. Several people in our ward have brought over blankets that they made for you and everyone just thinks you are so adorable. Which you are!

We are enjoying you so much and love having such a sweet little baby in our family.

Love, Mommy
