Letter to Jarom: Month 40

Dear Jarom,

Happy New Year's Eve! Today you turn 40 months old. It has been a very fun month - celebrating Christmas and spending time with friends and family. Grandma Jean and Uncle Jeff came out for their usual Christmas visit and you had a good time with them, showing off and making them laugh. It's a good thing we got to see Grandma Jean because she passed away tonight. She loved you so much and always looked forward to her Christmas visits.

You had such a good time opening all your presents for Christmas. I couldn't tell if there was one thing you got that you were the most excited about. Maybe your big Buzz Lightyear, but you were happy you got a fruit cutting set, a Bumblebee Transformer car, and a bunch of stretchy spiders! Needless to say, everything you got gets played with, read, or worn.

Earlier in the month we went to a Gingerbread house party. You helped Daddy a little bit decorating the gingerbread house but mostly you ate lots of candy and played with the other kids. You would snatch things from other peoples' piles and bring them over to us to use to decorate our house! You are a very social kid. You talk to anybody and tell them your life story!

You also had a good time decorating cookies at Grandma and Grandpa Funk's. You even had a Christmas apron and a chef's hat that you looked so cute in! We all had to monitor your decorating because you had a tendency to dump a whole bunch of sprinkles in a very small area!

You've been going a little stir crazy lately since we've been spending so much time inside because of the cold weather and Alex. I try to take you outside with me when I shovel the snow and you have so much fun getting all bundled up and running around in the snow!

You say all kinds of funny things. Your expletive of choice when you're angry lately has been, "Nutcracker!" When you see something unbelievable it's, "Oh. My. Goodness!" And when you're exasperated you say, "Heaven's sakes!" We were having trouble with you being good so Daddy told you you had to be good to get good presents for Christmas and you said, "Oh, I guess I'm just getting an ornament then."

You continue to be a good brother and love spending time with Alex. You love to hold him and give him his binky. You turn his music on in his baby seat and tickle him to try to make him laugh. It has been such a fun holiday season with you.

Love, Mommy
