Letter to Jarom: Month 23

Dear Jarom,
Today you turn 23 months old. You have been so busy busy busy this month. You are constantly on the go and into EVERYTHING! We went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Watts down in New Mexico for the 4th of July and you figured out how to climb out of your pack'n'play. We were hoping that wouldn't translate to your crib when we got home but as soon as we put you in you came running out to see us, very proud of yourself! It's made it difficult to get you down for naps and bedtime for the last month!

This month we moved out of your second home and in with Grandma and Grandpa Funk. You have your own room and we bought you a twin size bed with Cars sheets. Your room doesn't look like a baby's room anymore, it looks like a big boy room. I can't believe how fast you're growing up. We think you like your new bed but for the past two mornings when we've gone to check on you you were sprawled out asleep on the couch instead! I don't really know what that means.

You've picked up a few new words lately. You can say "hot," "cold," "car," "truck," "hot dog," "fire truck," and you try to say "basketball." Car sounds more like char but we get the jist. And I think you're starting to say wawa for water. You love to make animal noises as well, although some of the animals you just make grunting noises for if you can't quite get the real noise right.

You were so helpful when it came to packing for the move. You would sit in the boxes in front of the tv or run and slide on the boxes that were laid out flat and hadn't been taped together yet. You tended to take things out of the boxes we were packing rather than putting stuff in. And you got really mad when I was boxing up some of your toys and books.

We went to Travis and Jenni's for the 24th and you had a good time playing with Dylan. You two made a disaster area of his room though! And you liked watching the fireworks for a little while. I think a few were too loud for you so I tried to keep your ears covered. After just a little while you'd had enough and just fell asleep through all the noise and flashing lights.

This month we also found out you won't be getting a baby brother or sister in February like we thought. It wasn't as hard to take as it could have been if we didn't have you. And we're so glad we have you because we all love you so much and we're glad you're a part of our family.

Love, Mommy
