Yesterday you turned 20 months old. You have become so funny lately. You make the funniest faces and do the funniest things. You have become extremely independent too. Sometimes that gets a little frustrating for us and I'm sure it's frustrating for you too. You have to drink out of the straw all by yourself even though you tip it all the way up like you're drinking out of a sippy cup and nothing comes out of the straw but everything comes out the opening where the straw is and we get liquid all over the place. But it's good times.
Using the stairs is a totally independent act these days as well. You rarely let anybody help you up or down, you have to do it yourself. The other day as I watched you climb the stairs - which is a total body experience - you reminded me of when I used to go rock climbing. Climbing the stairs the right way for you is on a similar level as climbing a mountain for me. It takes a lot of effort and you have to get all your hands and feet in the right spots to ensure that you arrive safely to the top. Should I be using a belay for you? Maybe.
We have been going to the park quite a bit this month. At least on the warm days. You went down the slide by yourself for the first time! At first you wouldn't. You would just climb all over the equipment and stay within the structure. You would get close to the slides but as soon as you would see me you'd turn and go the other way. I think you thought if you came down I would make you leave. Another lady was helping her kids down the slide and you decided to join right in and let her help you down a couple times. I think when you saw that I wouldn't make you leave and let you go back up you let me help you down the slide a few times. That was really fun.
You are more communicative these days and even though you don't know a lot of words yet you are good at making your wishes known. The other day you came into the bedroom holding my phone out to me and saying "uh oh!" I had missed a call from daddy and you wanted me to know! Who needs an answering machine!?!
Tomorrow is Daddy's graduation from Weber and he wants you to come along. That should be an interesting experience. But daddy loves you and you love him. You're always so excited when he comes home and you love him to read your books to you and play with you. He chases you around the house and you giggle and giggle. Now that he's done with school he'll be able to spend more time with you and that will be great for all of us!
Love, Mommy

So Sweet! I just remembered that you had a blog. Ya, I am slow. I have been thinking about you a lot. When Joci was 14 months and I had a friend come over with her baby and Joci kept taking all the toys away and displaying behavior I had never seen before. :P I thought oh, this must have been how Heidi felt when we visited. I wonder what other things she could warn me about. : )I also was going through mission stuff, and it made me miss you a lot. I will do better about checking out your blog. Maybe I will be your stalker. ; )
Yea! Roxcy! I'm glad you found it. We definitely need to do better at keeping in touch. Thanks for all the pictures of Joci you send. She's getting so much hair now!
