Letter to Jarom: 13 Months

Dear Jarom,

It's hard to believe it's been a month since your first birthday. I'm not sure what you thought of your birthday party. You were a little cranky that day. We had a lot of fun visiting with family and friends. You enjoyed the food at the BBQ, especially the cake. We just took all your clothes off except your diaper and let you dig into the pounce cake we got for you. At first you just wanted to eat it with a spoon since we've been working on that lately. But after awhile you just went at it by the fistfuls. What a mess! You weren't very interested in opening your presents but you've sure enjoyed them all since then. Every day you dig them all out of the toybox and they're constantly strewn all over the house where you had been playing with one toy or another. You especially like the giant stuffed green frog you got and carry it around when you're upset and sleep with it every night.

You're getting better at eating by yourself but you still make a huge mess and haven't really gotten the hang of using your spoon. But you seem to have an insatiable appetite and get upset if we don't feed you fast enough. I'm just glad that you're at the point now where you can pretty much eat anything your dad and I are eating. Makes life a little easier in that respect.

You love music and love to dance around whenever there's music on. Even if it's just a commercial on the tv. The other day I caught you dancing to the "flat buns" commercial for Carl's Jr. That was pretty funny. You danced through the entire commercial - shaking your little bum.

You get frustrated very easily these days. If you can't get a toy to work the way you want it to you're upset. If we don't pick you up when you want us to you get frustrated. If we don't let you flick the lights on and off - which seems to be your new favorite thing to do - you get frustrated. Just this morning you were trying to carry one of your toys around on a little pillow and it kept sliding off and you were so upset about it. You kept trying and trying and finally you did it. So your frustration paid off. I have to say, it was pretty funny to watch all your attempts.

Your daddy and I love you very much and everyone is enjoying watching you grow.

Love, Mommy
