Letter to Jarom: 8 Months

Dear Jarom,

Today you turned 8 months old and today you actually crawled for the very first time too. This month you have grown and developed so much. You're starting to be able to pull yourself up on things. Before you could just stand up in your crib if we put you up and had you hold onto it. Now you can pull yourself up and I don't know how many times you were supposed to be sleeping and we went into your room and you were standing up just grinning at us. It even happens in the middle of the night. So much for sleep.

And you used to be such a good sleeper. Now you won't lie still long enough to fall asleep. You roll around and pull yourself up and play with anything you can find on your crib to keep you from falling asleep. Eventually you usually will fall asleep and we find you in the funniest positions. You'll be curled up on your side with the blanket between your legs, you'll have your face pressed right up against the crib, we never know how we're going to find you. As funny as all this is, it's really not that funny at bedtime!

Besides pulling yourself up on things you're now able to go from laying down to a sitting position all by yourself. That has changed your mobility immensely. You do a lot of rolling, to sitting to turning on your stomach to standing on your hands and the tips of your toes. The last week or so you've been trying to army crawl and now tonight you finally did your first crawling although you didn't seem nearly as excited about it as we were. You did it so you could reach my soda can sitting on the floor. It was too funny! But then we kept trying to get you to crawl to the soda cans when all you really wanted was a little sip. You weren't very happy when you went to all that hard work and we wouldn't give you a drink! So we gave you just a taste.

This month you went to your first Jazz game. You really had a good time until the fourth quarter. You watched all the people around us and were really interested in the two young men sitting right behind us. You wanted to be passed from daddy to me to grandma and then to grandpa and then back again. But by the fourth quarter you had worn yourself out and weren't very happy anymore. You wouldn't go to sleep though because there was so much going on. On the way home you were stupid tired and just got really giggly. Anything we did you giggled at until we finally made it home and you could sleep.

I guess now it's time to babyproof the house. Already the first thing you go for is the DVDs and videos under the tv. But I can't wait to see what you start doing next month. You are such a joy to all of us.

Love, Mommy

You are amazing, Baby J! You also love going for walks now that it's warm. You hold on to the stroller like it's a roller coaster! So cute. And you've taken to making funny faces...Still the cutest kid ever!
