Today you turned 42 months, or 3 1/2 years old! I can't believe how big you're getting or how much you're changing. You are definitely in an independent streak right now and want to do everything yourself. Unforunately you also want to do things on your timetable and that doesn't always fit into our schedule. I'm really really learning patience these days as I try to let you do things for yourself - like put on your jacket and shoes or buckle yourself into your carseat - at the pace you want to do them.
You are loving Primary and I'm really happy about that. You've been really antsy lately though but I know I have a hard time sitting through 3 hours of church so why wouldn't you? You love the Primary songs but I need to work with you on learning them because right now you want to sing the songs but don't know the words so you just make up words to sing and it's distracting to the other children! I can't wait for the Primary program at the end of the year. It's going to be awesome!
Today we got home from church and you found a stick and told us you were going to throw the stick on the ground and it would turn into a snake. Then you could pick it up by its tail and it would turn back into a stick. I guess you learned about Moses in class. It's good to know you're listening. We left the house later to go to grandma's house and you were mad your stick STILL hadn't turned into a snake!
You are always saying more funny things. When you do something you think is exciting you come and tell us, "You've gotta see this!" The other day you kept saying, "Hey, Dude!" to Aunt Laura. I asked you where you got that phrase and you said, "just from my mouth."
Earlier in the month was Valentine's Day and President's Day all in the same weekend so we went downtown to stay in a hotel for a few nights. You had SO much fun going swimming! I think that was your favorite part. We took you to Clark Planetarium and Discovery Gateway and you loved that too. I think we'll have to go back. You played dress-up and drove cars and played in water and built with giant blocks. You got to forecast the weather on tv and test out a life-flight helicopter. When you were at the "construction site" another little boy was being mean and trying to wrestle the construction hat from off your head. You didn't know what to do because nothing like that's ever happened to you before. Forunately you have a great dad and he just walked up and yelled, "Hey!" at the other boy and he got scared and said, "oh, sorry" and ran away! It was pretty funny and you are so lucky to have such an amazing (and intimidating!) dad for a champion.
We are still working on potty training. So far you'll pee in the potty but won't poop. I'm not sure what it's going to take. We've tried bribery, intimidation tactics, making you sit on the potty in front of the tv all day, but nothing seems to work. I guess you'll get potty trained eventually - when YOU'RE ready. Again with the patience lessons for mommy. You're doing well at going potty and flushing and washing your hands and you always remind us when we're in the bathroom to flush the toilet and wash our hands too!
You are learning and growing so much. You make such a wonderful addition to our family.
Love, Mommy

Such a cutie. Wish the time didn't have to go so fast. It's so much fun to see them learn and change though.
