Letter to Jarom: Month 36

Dear Jarom,

Happy Birthday!!! Today you turn 3 years old. I can't believe how fast the time has flown. We had your birthday party on Saturday and you had been so excited for your birthday party for months! Every week you wanted to go look at the cakes at the grocery store. And you had all kinds of things you wanted for your birthday.

We had your party at our favorite park and you had fun playing on the playground and eating your Star Wars cake (or playing with the Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker that were on the cake) and you loved all your presents. You got a Bumblebee helmet and Star Wars t-shirt from Grandma and Grandpa Watts, Star Wars action figures and more clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Funk, a book and monkey pajamas from Lindzie and Bailey, Toy Story action figures, a puzzle, and Skippyjon Jones book, plus clothes from mommy and daddy. It was a big success and we're grateful to all who could make it and sad for those who missed it. When we got home you had all your toys lined up in a row so we could take a picture. I think you might be a little bit OCD.

You have become quite mischievous lately. I turn my back for a minute and you're into something. One day you had all my little note papers strewn all over your bedroom floor. Another day you were in your room with the door closed so I knew you were into something. Sure enough you were sitting on the floor digging into a bag of Swedish Fish! And this morning I went downstairs to change the laundry and came back up and you said, "I'm eating cake!" You had your leftover birthday cake on the floor and your face and hands were covered in red icing! Your hands are still stained pink.

You have been saying the funniest things this month too. We are always surprised at what ends up coming out of your mouth. We asked you what we should name your baby brother and you said, "Baby Alex. Move it! Move it!" I think you were thinking of Alex the Lion from Madagascar because they have that song, "I Like to Move it!" We asked you what color we should paint your room and you told us, "Pink!" Um... no. You put your finger up in the air and say, "I have an idea!" Or you'll swing your fist in front of you and say, "Let's do it!" The other day I was having trouble opening a jar and was waiting for daddy to get off the phone to ask his help. I was just about to yell for him when you said, "Matt, come help my mom!" You tend to call daddy Matt a lot of the time. Especially if you're really trying to get his attention. Those are just a few of the funny things you've said recently. I could go on and on!

We've spent some fun times with my friend, Emily and her son, Owen. He's a year younger than you but you two have become great friends just like your moms. We went to Thanksgiving Point to the farm and had fun there until you had a total meltdown! I've never seen you do anything like the tantrum you threw there. Another time we went to this little water park and you had such a fun time. You and Owen chatted with eachother in the backseat the whole way there and back and you loved all the water coming up everywhere. You love spending time with all your friends.

One day this month the whole Watts family went to visit Grandpa Casper in Heber. He's Grandma Watts' "dad" from when she was in the Indian placement program. You, Lindzie, Bailey and Spencer had a great time playing with his dog, playing in the backyard, and climbing the cherry tree. It was a really fun day.

We bought Rock Band for Christmas but we decided to open it just to make sure everything worked right before it sat in the closet for 4 months. You loved playing with the guitar and the drums. We put it away after you went to bed and when you got up the next morning you went right downstairs to find it again. You came back up and said, "Where's Rock Band?" You were so sad when we told you you'd have to wait to play with it until Christmas. If we'd realized you knew what it was we would have bought it when you weren't around!

This has been such a fun year and I can't wait to see how much you've changed by your next birthday!

Love, Mommy

They grow up too fast. Makes me sad. I always wonder...if I appreciated all the special moments as much as possible.
Jarom is hysterical.

That first picture makes him look huge (in a good way) what till you have that baby and then he will look even that much bigger.
