Letter to Jarom: Month 25

Dear Jarom,

Today you turn 25 months. You have grown up so much this month. Your vocabulary gets bigger every day. Some of your new words are "house," "up," "down," and "blanket." It's becoming easier to understand you which is good so you don't feel quite so frustrated when we don't know what you want. You comprehend a lot more than you can say. You get excited every time you hear a siren and when we ask you what it is you say, "fire truck!" You love to mimic daddy so now he has to be careful what he does. Sometimes you see us kiss and you have to kiss us too. You love to scare mommy. I'll go looking for you and you'll be waiting for me in the dark and when I find you you say, "roar!"

You are really enjoying the backyard we have living with grandma and grandpa. You go out in the garden and help grandpa pick fruits and vegetables. It's always so fun to see you out there. You love to help us bake. Whenever someone pulls out the mixer you bring a stool over so you can help. You pour ingredients into the bowl and you dance along to the sound of the mixer when it's turned on. It's so funny! And of course you can't help but dip your finger in whatever is being mixed, just for a taste.

This month we went to the Utah State Fair and you loved it! Of course we forgot the camera so we didn't get to capture any of your excitement for others to see but we sure enjoyed seeing it. Daddy took you down the big slide and you laughed and had the biggest grin the whole way down. I think that was your favorite part. You rode the merry-go-round and the helicopters and those were fun. You enjoyed seeing all the animals and petting them and you loved riding the horse. It was your second time on a horse and you looked like a pro. You loved all the fair food too although you thought cotton candy was a little weird. You would ball it all up so it wasn't fluffy before you stuck it in your mouth.

You've stopped sleeping through the night lately. I've heard that can happen to kids your age. You won't go to sleep without someone in your room with you and then you toss and turn forever. You'll generally sleep anywhere from 3 to 6 hours and then you're up again. Sometimes you're freaking out, other times you're just playing in your room at 3am or trying to climb over your gate. I have to go back in and lay down with you until you go back to sleep. A few times you've gotten in bed with us and that does not work. There is not enough room for daddy, me and your wiggly body in one bed! I really hope this a phase that ends soon. You and I both need our sleep!

Even though you're always into everything and can't seem to sleep enough for our taste or your own crankiness we still love you very much! You always do things that make us laugh. Walk funny or say something funny or make a funny face and we can't help but love you more.

Love, Mommy
